Winter 2009-2010
Sessions
are all levels and will start Tuesday, September 8 and run for 30 weeks
ending April 4. We have updated our registration packet and added
additional sessions to make it easier and more convenient for our
valued members. Sessions are limited to 20 skaters with the exception
of dance. We have two pricing options. Our
two major fundraisers - Learn to Skate and our Spring ISI Competitions
- help pay 20 to 30% for every skater's ice bill. We need every family
to help with these events so that we can keep our costs down and
maintain our member base. Therefore, you have the option of completing
the volunteer registration form and receiving a 20% reduction on your
ice per session or paying the actual cost of reserved ice. Both
options are listed on the winter application form. We hope that you
will choose the option with volunteer commitment because we really need
your help in order to maintain our many programs. Remember, we do not want your money; Skating sessions will be given on a first come, first served basis. Session
times change during the season due to the City or SSFSC planned
events. Saturday times may be half an hour earlier during winter
months. Every attempt to make up missed time is made. We will give a
voucher that you may use on one of our regular sessions. Please call a
supervisor before going to that session to make sure that there is room
for the skater. All vouchers must be used during the current season.
Vouchers are not transferable outside of a family member. Check your calendar monthly for any changes that may occur.
we really need your time.
Buy Ons
Full session buy-on policy: Call the session supervisor at least 24 hours in advance to check on availability and to reserve a space. Payments must be made at the time the skater buys on. Supervisors cannot guarantee spots not reserved. Skaters who reserve a spot and don't show up may be charged for that spot.
Partial buy-on policy: Partial session buy-on will only be allowed to extend a session already skated. For example, if you skate on the 3:10 session, you may buy the first half hour of the 4:35 session to extend your skating time. If you skate on the 4:35 session, you may buy the last half hour of the 3:10 session. Partial buy-ons must be a minimum of 30 minutes. Partial buy-ons cannot be reserved in advance.
Buy-on Rates:
Member Rates Non-Member Rates
1 ½ hours $22 $26
1 hour $15 $18
½ hour $8 $10
Power Stroking $4 and $5 Dance $19 for hour with group – if not taking the dance lesson it is $15. If only doing the group dance $11. Sunday 1 hour and 20 minutes $20 and $24
Also, please remember when on a session the skater wearing the orange belt is skating to his/her music and has the right of way. Parents and coaches, please remind your skater of this rule.
Making Changes
Once the program has begun, days can be added if there is room on the session you are requesting and with approval from Darcy Scelsi - email Saratogaspringsfsc@verizon.net. The fee will be pro-rated according to the number of sessions left in the season.
Skaters cannot exchange sessions once they have registered and there are no refunds, nor are sessions transferrable to another skater. Once registered, exchanging sessions for the entire season can only be done with the approval of the Business Manager.
Absences due to extensive illness or injury will be reviewed by the Board of Trustees for credit. A physician's note must be provided. If a physician's note is given and states "Until further notice", an additional note must be given to allow skater back on the ice. Skater must miss a minimum of 5 skating days to be considered for skating credit. Contact Darcy Scelsi for details.

Ice Dancing
The Ice Dancing Program is one hour and 15 minutes of ice time that consists of a 45 minute group lesson and a half hour of practice time.
During our 2008-2009 winter session the dance program will be held on Saturdays from 9:45 am to 11 am.
Dance Production Number - There will be a group dance production number at the SSFSC Exhibition in March. All ice dancers will be included. Practices for this production will take place for 6 weeks prior to the exhibition. Both groups will meet together during this time. It is important that everyone involved be in attendance for all practices.
