Biographical information for our coaches
Jeanne A. Governale-Cousineau (Cell) 518-796-5411 jagovernale@yahoo.com
Jeanne has been teaching skating for 22 years. She currently has many
competitive students ranging from the pre-alpha level at ISI to the
Intermediate Freestyle level in USFS. She brings many years of
experience and various styles of teaching to her students. She has a
Master's degree in Elementary Education (and has been a school teacher
for 15 years), and she believes her teaching background helps her to
break down information and skills to her skaters, as well as help her
to communicate well with her students. Jeanne is constantly learning
new techniques that she passes on to her students, and presently teach
moves in the field, freestyle, and basic skills. She also does
choreography for show programs, competitive programs and freestyle
tests.
She is a gold level ISI judge.

Julianne has been teaching for 11 years, from the beginner to Senior Level test and competitive skaters. She is a USFSA Gold Medalist and won a US National Bronze Medal at the Junior Pairs Level. Growing up skating in Colorado Springs at the Broadmoor Skating Club. Julianne skated competitively for 12 years; five of those years at the Junior and Senior National Level. She was also a member of the US International Figure Skating Team competing in France and Germany. Her skaters have achieved Senior Level Freestyle and Moves In the Field tests and competed at the Regional and Sectional Levels. While teaching in State College, PA and Fairfax, VA Julianne co-directed summer skating camps, ice shows, and skating schools.
Julianne is a member of the Professional Skaters Association and holds ratings at the Senior Freestyle, Certified Moves in the Field, and Registered Figure Levels. She has a bachelor's degree from Skidmore College and an MS in Childhood Education from the Sage Graduate School. Julianne is a NY State certified Elementary school teacher.

Missy has 12 years of coaching experience. She is a member of United States Figure Skating, the Ice Skating Institute (Certified Gold Judge), and The Professional Skaters Association (Certified rating - Moves in the Field) and Registered rating in Figures. Missy is a double Gold medalist in Figures and Dance and a Silver Medalist in Pairs and Free Dance. Her students have competed in both USFS and ISI competitions. Several of her students have competed the Gold level of Figure Skating in Freestyle, Dance and Moves in the Field. Missy enjoys coaching all levels of skaters, from children to adults in a private or group setting. She is co-coach of the Saratoga Springs Dance Program and the Saratoga Springs Synchronized Program. Missy has a B.A. in English from the College of Saint Rose.Becky DeWitt 518-583-2549
Becky DeWitt has taught skating in Schenectady for 10 years and Saratoga Springs for 20 years. She holds a professional membership in the Ice Skating Institute (ISI) and is an ISI Silver Level judge. She is also a former member of United States Figure Skating (USFS) and The Professional Skaters Association (PSA) (Registered Certification). Becky is credited with creating and directing the TOTS and Adult programs for Saratoga Springs Recreation Commission and served as Rink Supervisor when the Weibel Rink opened.
Becky's love of music and movement led her to the study and teaching of ballet. This experience helped develop her instinctive choreographic knowledge and enhances her student's artistic and performance skills. The Saratoga Springs Figure Skating Club established a trophy in her honor (the Becky DeWitt Award). It is awarded annually to the winner at the highest artistic level at the Club's Spring Exhibition.
Becky is proud of her skaters' accomplishments. Many are successful competitors. Some have become USFS Gold Medal testers, ice show performers (including Ice Capades), skating instructors and producers, as well as teachers and artists.
Above all, Becky's personal mission is to help her students of all ages find within themselves their highest level of well being and self worth. This is accomplished through compassion, hard work, and good humor.

Nancy Owen is a USFS Silver Medalist in freestyle and figures. She has taught figure skating, recreational skating, power skating, and hockey to children and adults for the past 20 years. In addition, she teaches beginners to advanced skaters. Her students have competed at North Atlantics, Mid-Atlantics, Empire State Games and various other USFS and ISI competitions.Besides figure skating, she played ice hockey, including varsity collegiate hockety.
She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management and has
courses in biomechanics, exercise physiology, anatomy, sports
psychology, and first aid.
Nancy has many figure skating courses, as
well.
Recent student accomplishments include several students passing junior moves, a sixth place finish in the Lake Placid summer competition. Her students currently range in ISI Freestyle from PreAlpha to Freestyle 7 and in USFS from Basic Skills to Novice Freestyle.

Joni skated over 10 years with Shipstad and Johnston Ice Follies. She has over 30 years experience teaching Moves in the Field, Figures, Freestyle, and Choreographing solo and group numbers for competition and exhibition. She is a member in good standing of the USFSA, ISI, and PSA. |

Debbie is a member of PSA, USFS, and ISI. She is a USFS Gold Medalist in ice dancing. Some of her own accomplishments were winning Gold in Regional, Sectionals, and others such as the Lake Placid Summer Ice Dance Championships.
Debbie has taught for over 30 years and coaches all levels and ages in Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Dance and Sychronized teams. She has been a director of two successful Learn to Skate programs for 13 years, and is currently co-coaching the Ice Dance program and Saratoga Synchro teams.
Many students work with Debbie from the beginning of their skating career and have reached their Gold test level. Some have achieved such goals as medaling in the Empire State Games, North Atlantic Regional, Eastern Sectionals, Jr. Nationals and Lake Placid Ice Dance Competition.

Wayne has been coaching all levels of skating for 28 years. He is currently on staff at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid and has been for 15 years. Wayne performed with Disney on Ice for 6 years and is a 4 time National competitor in Ice Dancing in Canada. He specializes in Ice Dancing, Moves in the Field, and power stroking. Amanda is a United States and Canadian triple Gold Medalist in Freestyle, Figures and Dance. She is a member of the Professional Skaters Association (Master Rated in Freestyle, Figures and Dance), United States Figure Skating, The Ice Skating Institute (Certified Silver Judge).Amanda has taught for over 30 years and coaches all levels and ages in Freestyle, Moves in the Field, and Dance. Her students have competed in various ISI and USFS Regional Competitions from beginner thru senior levels. Many of her skaters have started from the very beginning and passed thru their Gold test levels in Freestyle, Moves in the Field and Dance. Each year she tries to take her students to various figure skating seminars to enhance their knowledge of the sport, last year her students were able to skate with Jeff Buttle, the men's World Champion. Amanda has a BS and MBA in Business.

Justin is a National and International Level Competitor and earned his Dance Gold Medal in 2008. Justin additionally passed his Gold Moves in the Field Test and is at the Senior Gold Freestyle Level.
